The ProblemThere are hundreds of thousands of kids waiting for mentors across the nation There are over 2000 kids waiting for mentors in 30 plus different mentoring organizations in Kent County MI. 50% of kids will spend half their childhood without a father-figure (Stats from National Center for Fathering Jan 2006) 72% of the Grand Rapids public school kids are living in poverty 70% of juveniles in state operated institutions come from fatherless homes. (US Dept. of Justice) Our MissionIt is our mission to find mentors for kids and adults through out the nation Our CampaignWe are currently engaged in a campaign to recruit 2000 men for 2010, who are willing to make a one year commitment to mentoring at-risk youth. Our VisionWe envision a day when every mentoring organization would be able to achieve their goals by having a surplus of mentors for the young people they are committed to serve. GoalsWe are recruiting 2000 men for 2010 who are willing to make a one-year commitment to mentor at-risk youth. We will recruit as many women who are willing to make a one year commitment to mentoring at-risk youth. We will reduce violent crime, drug abuse, delinquency, school dropouts, teen pregnancy, and incarcerations among at-risk youth by 20% over the next five years. We are securing a minimum two-year commitment from 50% of the men and women that we recruit.
