We envision a national movement to find mentors for kids through a collaborated grass roots and integrated marketing campaign by providing leadership, marketing resources and finances to launch and maintain each community's campaign. 1. Starting a Mentor 1 campaign in your city. - Form a Mentor 1 task force to research the feasibility of launching a city wide campaign, set goals and build coalitions
- Contact Mentor 1 and present findings, goals and coalitions
2. Form a Board of Directors - Look for leaders in your community who understand the power of mentoring, who are well connected to and through out the community and or have some relationship to and with the media in all areas: Billboard, TV, Radio, Print and Web. Strive to include local celebrities, city leaders, top sales men and women.
3. Hire an Executive Director - Look for an executive director who has over five years of mentoring experience, who has non-profit experience, and who understands the community they live in. Likewise, make sure they have an ability to empower their board to raise the money to fund the campaign.
4. Together the Board of Directors and the Executive Director must raise $100,000 before launching their campaign. - Each area must raise funds to provide for the ED in order to allow the ED to focus without personal financial liability.
5. Form a City Leaders Coalition - This Coalition is to include at its minimum the City Mayor, Public School Superintendent, City Police Chief, and local non-profit Executives.
6. Form a Non-Profit Coalition - This is to include every Mentoring organization in your area that is willing to train and screen your potential mentors
7. Form a Media Coalition - This coalition is to include local news media members from as many media outlets as possible.
8. Form an Advertising Coalition - This group will work with Mentor 1 to better understand your area and how to market to your audience to achieve the goals that your team has set to accomplish.
Mentor 1 will provide Leadership and Consultation through out the tenure of the campaign Marketing Materials
