Kids Hope USA

KIDS HOPE USA is the nation's leading provider of well-trained, faith-inspired mentors for at-risk children in public schools. KIDS HOPE USA helps churches establish programs for members to build caring one-on-one relationships with area elementary school-age children...one child, one hour, one church, one school.

KIDS HOPE USA is a church-based mentoring model that equips a local church to build a caring relationship with its neighborhood public elementary school by providing faithful mentors and behind-the-scenes prayer partners. KIDS HOPE USA teaches affiliate churches how to recruit, screen, train, supervise, and evaluate their own members for ongoing one-on-one relationships with children the school identifies as at-risk. Mentors and students meet every week at the school for one hour. We focus on elementary school-age children because these are the critical, formative years for self-esteem, values, and academic skill development.

Saved To Serve

We are a non-profit faithbased ministry to disenfranchised men and women, to aid them with housing and initial employment references while providing services to the local community at a suggested donation.

In addition to these services, we also provide a three to six month residential program wherein each participant volunteers his or her service to the community for a specified number of hours per week while seekingregular employment. We will collaborate and network with employers, agencies, organizations, groups, and individuals whenever possible. Our hope is to provide residents with a broad base of opportunities.

Schools of Hope

As part of United Way’s commitment to raise literacy level in collaboration with the Grand Rapids Public Schools, our K – 12 literacy programs, including FACTS, will come under the name Schools of Hope.

Schools of Hope schools provide all the materials for tutors. During times tutors are present, all are provided direct supervision by Schools of Hope coordinators to answer any questions and to guide tutors. Most provide a separate room designated specifically for Schools of Hope.

One Child.  30 Minutes.  Once a Week.

In just 30 minutes a week, volunteers can transform a child's life. Volunteer reading tutors are matched with children at 15 schools in Grand Rapids.

They read together for 30 minutes each week during the school year.
