History

In June of 2006 Roy A. Clark received a phone call in his office that fueled a holy discontent. A single mother called and expressed her desire to have someone mentor her child. On the surface this was very exciting. This was one of the first random referrals to his mentoring organization. What separated this phone call from all the others was that the mother went on to tell Roy, her child had been waiting for a mentor for five years. His name had been approved by one of the local mentoring organizations but they just didn’t have enough mentors for her son.

After receiving this phone call, a survey was taken to see what the needs of the mentoring organizations were. There were two needs that quickly came to the surface. More money, more mentors!

Seeing that he didn’t have loads of money to give away he chose to find mentors. And the goal of finding 2000 men to mentor in 2010 was formed.

Roy has been mentoring for over 16 years and he, along with his beautiful wife Amanda of thirteen years, have adopted three children from the heart of Grand Rapids. Marcus is 14, Liana is 10, and Redeemed is 6.
